MOTHERS SUNDAY AT BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH, PARDO, CEBU CITY

MOTHERS WITH UNFEIGNED FAITH

2Tim. 1:1-5, Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
 2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
 4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Mother is the most influential person in the lives of Children.
Timothy’s life was influenced by his mother Eunice who also was influenced by his grandmother Lois. These two mothers Lois and Eunice had unfeigned faith.

Mothers with unfeigned faith…

I.                     LISTEN TO THE WORD OF GOD.

This genuine faith will only come to the life of a person who first of all listened to the Word of God.
Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Human have faith, but our faith is blind to the things of God.
It cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God.
1Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Why many people even if they are religious  do not believe in salvation that once  you are saved you are saved forever, because they do not have this kind of faith.. The Unfeigned Faith.

Listening to the Word of God…

A.       Gives you assurance of Salvation.

2Tim. 3:14-15, But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

B.       Guarantees us of Success.

Psalm 1:1-3, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

II.                    LOVE THE WORD OF GOD.

The Bible is God’s love letters to us because it tells us of His love towards us.

Rom. 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

When my wife, Nenita and I got married,  I found out that all my love letters to her were carefully kept by her and cherished them.

Loving the Word of God…

A.       Gives you inspiration to meditate upon it daily.

Psalms 119:97-100, O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
 98 ¶ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
 100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

B.       Gives you instruction in righteousness.

2Ti m.3:16-17, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Somebody said of the Bible as man’s Basic Instruction Before Life Ends.

III.                  LIVE ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD

To live according to the Word of God is to do what it tells you to do as a Christian.
This is what we call OBEDIENCE to GOD in HIS WORD.

1Sam. 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Luke 6:46-49, And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great

Obedience to the Word of God…

A.       Releases the Blessings of God.

Deut. 11:26-28, ¶ Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

B.       Reflects the Beauty of Godliness.

1Tim. 4:7-8, But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
